Obituary for Sylvia Craycraft

Sylvia Craycraft, age 91, of Holland, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 23, 2010.

Sylvia was born in Vanderbilt, Michigan, one of nine children and grew up in Newberry, Michigan where she worked for her father’s logging business. She married Charles Craycraft. They had two sons, Donald and Kenneth. As a family they moved to Holland in 1950 and she worked for H.E. Morse Company for more than 30 years in quality control. She was also the union treasurer while she worked at H.E. Morse. She was an active member of TOPS and served as their treasurer. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Immanuel Baptist Church and worked in the church library for more than 20 years. She attended the adult women’s Bible study at Immanuel Church and also Bible Study Fellowship with her dear friend, Elinor Burns. Sylvia loved to travel and cook for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (1960), a son, Donald Craycraft (2009), a great granddaughter, Tonya Dams (2006) and several brothers and sisters.

She was the matriarch of 5 generations and is survived by her children:
Kenneth Craycraft and Martha Trott of Fennville

7 Great Grandchildren
1 Great Great Granddaughter

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, September 27, 2010 at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street in Holland. Reverend Larry Gavette will be officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 9:30-10:30 AM at Lakeshore Memorial Services. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Missionary Fund or the Orphan Helpers Tonya Rose Memorial Library Fund. An on-line registry book is available at
