Obituary for Timothy Veenstra

Timothy Wade Veenstra, age 52, of Holland, Michigan went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 1, 2014, following a brief but very intense bout of pancreatic cancer. Left to mourn is his loving wife and best friend of 27 years, Lyn Berends Veenstra. Tim is also survived by his dear mother, Hattie Veenstra of Zeeland; his four brothers and sisters, Stan & Sandy Veenstra of Florida, Lin & Ron Bovenkamp of Grand Rapids, Judy & Rick Evertse of DeWitt, and Brian & Karrin Veenstra of Holland; his nephews and nieces, Christopher (Mindy) Veenstra, Jennifer Corlew, Kelly (Tim) Sebald, Jillian (Paul) Trumbull, Jordan (Lucas) Zampetti, Vanessa (Josh) Ihle, Alison Bird, Daniela (Cory) Hoggard, and Caitlinn Veenstra as well as his special cousin Dan Veenstra, many close friends, and his beloved pets, Choo-Choo, Duncan, Pookie, Boggs, and Philby. He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Veenstra, and his nephew, Derek Veenstra.

Tim was a 1980 graduate of Zeeland High School and employed at Herman Miller for 30 years as a CAD programmer.

Tim enjoyed traveling and photographing old buildings, desolate places, lighthouses, scenic views, and anything Americana related. He always strived to create a mood with his photography and was especially gifted with night photography. Tim had a keen sense of beauty and loved working in his yard on various plantings and landscaping. He was a talented guitarist and wrote some of his own songs. One of his favorite passions was motorcycling. He also loved reading on his Kindle and was very well read.

Tim will always be remembered for his quirky sense of humor counter-balanced by his love of deep conversations especially about his faith.

Tim was always a very thankful person and wanted to express his gratitude to his wife, family, friends, neighbors, and caregivers from Hospice of Holland. Most of all, Tim was grateful to Jesus for saving his soul as he now abides in the arms of our Lord. We are really going to miss him and his great big bear hugs.
The funeral will be held at Lakeshore Memorial Services on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Greg Smith officiating. Interment at Findlay Cemetery in Ada.
