Edward Kirwan Obituary

Edward John Kirwan, 83, of Ludington, passed away on June 19, 2017. Edward was born on February 16, 1934 in Ludington, the son of Charles and Charlotte (Raymond) Kirwan. He lived in Ludington most of his life, attending St. Simon and Scottville schools. Edward married the love of his life, Joann Brown on July 26, 1952 and they shared 54 years together. She preceded him in death December 31, 2006. He worked on the car ferry and for Dow Chemical, and was a charter boat captain. He also owned Economy Laundry, Marvel Shop, and Kirwan Building. Edward retired from Mason County Fruit Packers. Edward loved to hunt, fish, and go trap shooting. He was a member of Fin & Feather Club and a founding member of Ludington Boat Club. Edward is survived by his children, Shelly Melonas, Debra (Henry) Sutton, Edward (Carolyn) Kirwan Jr., and Kevin (Connie) Kirwan; sister, Mary Lou Leblanc; sisters-in-law, Rosa Kirwan and Mabel Bacon; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Edward in death are his parents, Charles and Charlotte Kirwan; daughter, Donna Jean Kirwan; and brother, Chuck Kirwan. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington, with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Visitation will also be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
