Kelly Vlahos Manistee, Michigan Obituary

Kelly Vlahos

Kelly Jo Vlahos, 37 years young, was given her angel wings on June 16, 2017. She passed away peacefully in Swartz Creek, MI, surrounded by her family. She fought hard all her life, against all odds, due to her heart condition. Kelly was born on April 25, 1980, in Shelby, MI, the daughter of Dale and Carolyn (Feister) Petersen. She graduated from Mason County Eastern Schools in 2000. Kelly enjoyed spending time with her two four-legged babies, Xena and Beazer. She also enjoyed collecting antique Vaseline green glass and going to old car shows in her pink 1959 Edsel with her husband, Lee, whom she married on September 13, 2014 in Ithaca NY. Walking down the aisle was the happiest moment of her life because she was not only marrying her best friend, but because she was going to be able to be next to Lee for the rest of her life. In the short 10 years Kelly and Lee had together, they both loved to come to MI to visit family and friends. Especially going to the House of Flavors for ice cream. Kelly is survived by her husband, Leberi Vlahos; mother, Carolyn (Timothy) Courtemanche; father, Dale (Donna) Petersen; sister, Stacy Petersen; nephew, Dylan Petersen; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. Kelly is preceded in death by her brother, William “JJ” Feister; and her grandparents, Ivan and Jane Feister, and Jack and Bessie Petersen. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington, with visitation starting at noon. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home. A luncheon will be held at Oak Grove Funeral Home following the funeral, then burial at Mt. Ulysses Cemetery in Crystal Valley, next to her brother and grandparents. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to McLaren Hospice. Kelly, you will be deeply missed. RIP our sweet, stubborn fighter.
