Obituary for Albert Robert Kocsis

Albert Robert Kocsis
October 8, 1926 – January 5, 2011

Albert Kocsis was born in Avella, Pennsylvania on October 8, 1926. He was the son of the late James and the late Mary (Nogradi) Kocsis. He attended Dearborn Fordson High School.

Albert served his country honorably as a member of the Merchant Marines from 1944-1945. He also served in the United States Army from 1951-1953, and played the saxophone in the band.

He married Jacqueline “Johnnie” McPartlin in 1946 and to this union came the birth of children: Barry and Sandy. He later married Ruth McDermott on May 3, 1953 in Detroit and had daughters: Kathleen, Kelly, and Karen.

Albert worked for Stroh’s for ten years. He then spent twenty-six years at Chrysler-Jeep in Toledo. He retired in 1988 as a Quality Assurance Auditor.

Albert was a character. He infringed on his children strong morals and values, but never judged if they fell short. He loved his family and his biggest concern was always his girls. He was a member of the UAW in Toledo. He enjoyed gardening and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor namely onions and tomatoes with others. Albert loved music; especially Big Band, and enjoyed dancing and playing the saxophone and clarinet. He was an avid sports fan of the Lions, Tigers, University of Michigan, and Red Wings.

Albert age 84 passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Mercy Memorial Hospital under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice.
