Audra “Ray” Stone
May 1, 1929 – August 3, 2010
Audra was born in Duff, Kentucky on May 1, 1929. He was one of ten children born from the union of the late William and Ada (Rankin) Stone. Growing up he enjoyed working on the farm, and walked three miles down a dirt road and through the woods to school.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army, and married the former Betty Mae Noble.
He worked for several employers as a laborer. Ray was employed by Ford Motor for thirteen years. In addition Ray worked for Monroe Scrap, roofed houses, and enjoyed building homes for his brother-in-law: Bill Noble. Ray loved working with his hands and constructing things out of wood; making dog houses, wishing wells, Nativity Scenes, and picnic tables.
Ray had a passion for his children and enjoyed taking them fishing; once catching a turtle. He also liked taking his grandchildren for walks down Stoney Creek Road and to Stoney Creek to watch the fish. He looked forward each Easter to attending church as a family. He enjoyed helping his family with home improvement projects.
Ray loved vacationing down South, playing pool; which he was extremely good at, and yard work; including mowing the grass. He enjoyed visiting his neighbors and sharing in all the “wonderfuls” that they provided for him
