Elmer Allen Keshick, Sr., 72, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Funeral services for Elmer will be held at the Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Sunday, April 17 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Owen White-Pigeon officiating. Interment will follow in the Denver Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 16 from 5-9 p.m. and Sunday, April 17 from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel. Elmer was born on March 9, 1939 in Wilson, MI, the son of Julius Feathers and Lucy (Peaine) Compo. He married Patricia Ann Jackson on February 4, 1971. Elmer worked as an auto mechanic his whole life and was a member of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. He loved bingo, fixing and selling old cars, was an avid hunter, and dearly loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Elmer is survived by his wife, Patricia Keshick; children, Bernice Hendrickson, Gilbert Hendrickson, Margaret (Luis) Rosario, Christina Keshick (special friend James Pitawanakwet), Elmer Keshick, Jr., Barbara Dayson (Amos Jackson), Howard Compo, and Kelly Hawkins, all of Mt. Pleasant, and Shane (Holly) Hart, Carolyn Toorman, and Jeff Hapner; 45 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Keshick, Sr. of Levering, MI, Pete Compo, Sr. (Mary Bedell) of Mt. Pleasant, and Gary (Karen) Compo of Lansing; and sisters, Emily Harrington of Mt. Pleasant, Margaret Compo of Lansing, and Marie “Tootsie” Keshick Miller of Harbor Springs, MI. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Julius Feathers and Lucy (Peaine) Compo; brother, Joseph Compo; and sisters, Amelia Compeaux and Rosella Keshick Hemstreet.
