Robert M. Denney, 90, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at his home.

A memorial service for Robert will be held at the Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 20th at 2 p.m. under the auspices of Wabon Lodge 305 of Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 20th from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice or Community Cancer Services. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Robert was born on December 31, 1919 in Middleton, Michigan, the son of Carlyle M. and Pearl (Vallance) Denney. Robert married Geraldine Derry on June 21, 1940 in Detroit. He was a member for 44 years of the Wabon Masonic Lodge #305 where he served as worshipful master twice. Robert worked for MidWay Supply as a salesman, retiring in 1987 after 31 years of service. He played for the minor league team, Washington Senators before an arm injury ended his baseball career. Robert was a broadcaster for CMU basketball on WCEN radio and announced for the Mt. Pleasant Speedway. He was instrumental in the organization of the Mt. Pleasant Little League, where he coached and umpired. Robert was a past recipient of the “Man of the Year Award” for Mt. Pleasant. He was a past member of MOGA (Michigan Oil & Gas Association).

Robert is survived by his children, Doug (Paula Fortino) Denney of Greenville, Pam Miller of St. Charles, Cathy (Dick) vonReichbauer of Mt. Pleasant, Kim (Dave) Yost of Shepherd, and Roxann (Randy) Ellis of Dimondale; grandchildren, Robin Miller, Jeremy (Kristie) Miller, Vicki (Tom) Kramer, Jason (Lisa) vonReichbauer, Krystal Yost, Katie Yost, Audra Ellis, and Dane Ellis; great grandchildren, Kennadi, Justen, Jaksen, Jrew, and Jevin Miller, Ella and Derry Kramer, Khayman and Madelyn vonReichbauer, Konnor and Kolton Yost: sister, Phylis (Jack) Bergstrom; and brother, Gene (Marnie) Denney.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Denney; and his parents.
