Allen Smith

Allen Dale Smith Portland Age 81, left behind his earthly body on Friday, December 23, 2016 with his family by his side and is now celebrating in the presence of the Lord. He was born April 29, 1935, the son of Harry and Margaret (Moyer) Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired Master Electrician and avid Portland Raider fan. Allen was a longtime member of the Portland United Methodist Church. He was a man of great faith whose generosity and service blessed all who knew him. His greatest joy in life was his family and he had a gift for making each of them feel special. His Godly example of unconditional love leaves behind a legacy that will impact generations to come. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Gus Pline; his parents, and his siblings, Geraldine Hatch, Harriet Patrick, Douglas Smith, Richard Smith and Marcia Ackerson. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Lois; daughters, Cindy (Ken) Lawless, Robin Pline, Terri (Douglas) Hill, and Janice (Matthew) Newman; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Alice Lawless and Roger Smith; several sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. The Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Portland United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Lehman Funeral Home in Portland and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Portland Athletic Association or to the Portland United Methodist Church in memory of Allen.
