Barbara Smith

Barbara Ann Smith Portland Age 74, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2014. She was born on June 14, 1940 in Portland, MI the daughter of Robert and Ruth (LaSalle) Beard. Barb was a member of St. Patrick Church, and was a church organist for 27 years. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed knitting Christmas stockings for family and friends, enjoyed tending to her swimming pool, and babysat many kids over the years. Barb enjoyed attending her sons and her grandchildrens sporting events. She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws Isadore and Nora Smith; sisters-in-law Kathleen Smith and Jackie Smith; brother-in-law Daniel Smith. Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Ronald Smith; sons Mark (Amy) Smith, Scott (Nikki) Smith and Steve (Adie) Smith; grandchildren Tyler, Jerrid, Mackenzie Smith, Hailey McRoberts, Allysa Smith, Nicholas Smith, Shelby Chapco and Channon Smith; sisters Mary Beard and Faith (Roy) Kissane; brothers-in-law Don (Mary) Smith, Tom Smith and Dave Smith. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Larry King at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. A Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
