Caroline Mowatt

Age 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2003.  She was born on November 20, 1921 in Ionia, MI the daughter of Lloyd and Ruth (Burnett) Smith.  She graduated from Ionia High School in 1939, and attended Central Michigan University.  Mrs. Mowatt was a lifetime, and longest living, member of the St. Johns Episcopal Church.  Caroline was a member of the Ionia Womens Literary Club and Historical Society.  Cuddy was a devoted citizen of Ionia and Ionia County.  She married Jack Mowatt on July 23, 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1984.  She was also preceded in death by her parents.  Surviving are her children, John (Diana) Mowatt of Weston, FL, Brad (Beth) Mowatt of Muir, MI, and Susan (Ted) Burdo of Hamilton, GA; grandchildren, John (Pam) Mowatt, Jason Mowatt, Samantha Mowatt, Alex Mowatt, Jay Mowatt, Ned Mowatt, and Ted Burdo; great grandson, Ethan Mowatt; sister, Muriel Guest of Waterford, MI.  The Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Cook Chapel, 220 Rich St., Ionia.  Interment will take place at Balcom Cemetery, Ionia.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia Historical Society, or a charity of one's choice, in memory of Caroline "Cuddy" Mowatt.  On line condolences may be made at www.schraubenlehman.com.
