Charles Jarrett Obituary

Age 90, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 24, 2009. He was born on March 9, 1919 in Dawes, West Virginia the son of Eli and Hattie (Young) Jarrett. Mr. Jarrett was a devoted member of the Ionia First Assembly of God Church where his faith was very important to him. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy and retired from the Michigan Department of Corrections in 1991 as a Welding Instructor/Teacher. He received his Master's Degree from Michigan State University and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was an Outdoorsman who had a lifelong passion for fishing and hunting. He took great pride in his yard where he truly enjoyed gardening and caring for his flowers. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Carol of Ionia; daughters, Suzanne Mason of Virginia, Sherry (Jim) Jones of Ionia, Charlene (Edward) Vallad of Fenwick, and Lisa (Dennis) Smith of Ionia; 7 grandchildren, Jase, Jason, Lance, Melissa, Amanda, Cassandra, and Taylor; 2 great grandchildren, Vayda and Evelyn; sister, Ruby Buchanan of West Virginia. The Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Ionia First Assembly of God Church, 2973 E. Bluewater Hwy., Ionia with the Rev. Mark Gerdes, officiating. Interment will take place at Tuttle Cemetery with Military Honors being provided. A time of fellowship and lunch will be held following the services. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
