Charles Onstwedder Obituary

Age 90, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2005. He was born on December 24, 1914 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Miner and Anna (Hageson) Onstwedder. Mr. Onstwedder was a Life Member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, 50 year Member of the TPA, Life Member of the Elks (where he was past District Deputy, Grand Exalted Ruler), a Member of the Ionia Elks, a Member of the Ionia Hunting and Fishing Club, and a Boy Scout Leader, serving as Scout Master for Troop 83. Charles also received the Fred Kidd Award, as well as the Silver Beaver Award, which was the highest honor a scout could receive. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha V. Onstwedder, whom he wed on August 16, 1940; great grandson, Kevin Farr. Surviving are his children, Charles (Sandi) Onstwedder of Orleans and Nancy (Richard) Breimayer of Portland; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Harger, Pastor of Shiloh Community Church, at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005, at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia. Interment will follow at Orleans Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elks Major Project, or to Freedom Acres, in memory of Mr. Charles W. Onstwedder.
