Portland Age 61, passed away on February 28, 2010. He was born on February 10, 1949 in Lansing the son of George and Norma (Atwell) Sandborn. Chuck was the founder of the Portland Tackle Football Program (6th-8th). He enjoyed raising Standard Bred Horses and loved hunting and fishing, especially ice fishing. Chuck was very devoted to his grandchildren, they were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathyleen who passed away in 1997, his brothers Bill, Gary and Bud Sandborn and a sister, Janean West. Surviving are his wife, Jeri Gardner-Sandborn; sons Derek (Stacey) Sandborn of Broadview Heights, OH and Gregg (Jen) Sandborn of Alto; stepchildren Greg Gardner, Holly Gardner and Brian (Lisa) Gardner; grandchildren Tyler, Trevor, Katelyn, Kyle, Sophie and Anna; siblings Jackie Whitfield, Beverly Fedewa, Norma Hill, Mary Sandborn, Steve (Gerry) Sandborn, Jim (Brenda) Sandborn; sister-in-law Patricia Sandborn; brother-in-law John West; mother-in-law June Higbee; sister-in-law Jane (Ron) Brown; brothers-in-law Mark (Marleen) Higbee and John (Melissa) Higbee; many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Keith Treman at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. Interment will be in East Sebewa Cemetery in the spring. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
