Charles Lewis VanDerWoude Portland, Michigan Age 72, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015. He was born on August 19, 1942 the son of Thomas and Lilly (Hotchkiss) VanDerWoude. Mr. VanDerWoude was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. Charles worked for 33 years at General Motors. He loved the U.P., and enjoyed spending time at his cabins. Preceding him in death were his parents; children, Christopher and Jennifer; brothers, William and George. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine "Gerry" VanDerWoude; children, Samantha (Berlis) Ortiz, Sarah (Tom) Kiebach, Donald (Karen) Meyers, and Jeanine Meyers; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Ellen Mosher; many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 23, 2015 at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cardiac Care Unit-Sparrow Hospital, or the Portland E.M.S., in memory of Charles.
