Daniel Spitzley

Age 76, loving dad, grandpa, and great grandpa passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2010. He was born on January 18, 1934 in Westphalia, MI the son of Edward M. and Marcella (Rademacher) Sr. Mr. Spitzley was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Forresters. He worked at Fisher Body in Lansing for 37 years and was also an Assistant Fire Chief for the Westphalia Fire Department. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, bowling, hunting, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Larry Spitzley; brother-in-law, Tom Weber. Surviving are his children, JoLynn (Kevin) Wendling, Jayne (Jim Halladay) Schafer, Jeanne (Mike) Klaver, Judy (Rich) Childers, Jeff (Nicole) Spitzley, Janelle (Greg) Paksi, and Jennifer (James) Padilla; 22 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; mother, Marcella Spitzley; siblings, Edward F. (Eileen) Spitzley, MaryLou Weber, Blanche Spitzley, Marlene (Jerome) Bauer, Leroy (Clover) Spitzley, Steve (Georgia) Spitzley, Annette (Leon) Bierstetel, Kathy (Don) Hengesbach; several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Westphalia with Rev. James Conlon, presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and a Scripture Service will be held at 8 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Westphalia Fire Department, in memory of Mr. Daniel R.
