Age 62, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2004. He was born on August 23, 1942 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Albert and Gwendolyn (Clark) Manshum. Mr. Manshum was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ionia, belonged to the Mid-Michigan Model A Club, and served for two years in the U.S. Army in Ft. Hood, TX. David retired from Fisher Body after 36 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and golf. Preceding him in death were a nephew, Greg Manshum; brother-in-law, Rich Korcal; sister-in-law, Joyce Manshum. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Carol; children, David (Debbie) Manshum, Brian (Debbie) Manshum, Christopher (special friend Robin Hills) Manshum and Eric (special friend Amy Owens), all of Portland; 2 step grandchildren, Christopher and Kaila Groetsma; siblings, Everil (Dixie) Manshum, Charlotte Korcal, Peggy (Bob) Peacock, Mary Manshum, Evart "Dutch" (Judy) Manshum, Roger (Dee) Manshum, Richard Manshum, Roberta (J.R.) Goorhouse, Julius "Dewey" (Marie) Manshum, and Al (Debbie) Manshum; brother-in-law, James (Mary Ellen) DeBoer; many nieces and nephews and many close friends. The Funeral Service will be conducted by the Rev. James Bennett, Pastor at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Ionia. Interment will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
