Dolores Smith

Age 98, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2003.  She was born on March 21, 1905 in Bluffton, Indiana the daughter of Charles F. and Margaret (Miller) Rowland.  She grew up in the Bluffton, Grand Rapids and Muskegon areas, later attending Kendall Art School after high school.  She was a lover of music, both classical and opera, and earlier in her life produced many wonderful oil paintings.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Charles Rowland; son Gerald Smith.  Surviving are her daughter-in-law Deb (Bud) Hattis; grandchildren, Cheri (Robin) Murphy, David (Sylvia) Smith, and Kim (Michael) Schafer; 11 great grandchildren, Jordan, Katelyn, and Brandan Murphy, Valerie, Jessica, and Stephanie Smith, Leah, Ryan, Megan, Adam, and Hannah Schafer.  The Funeral Service will be conducted by the Rev. Jim Howard, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Portland at 10:00 a.m. Friday June 13, 2003 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland Chapel.  Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Muskegon, MI.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-9 p.m.  For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Portland Building Fund, in memory of Dolores May Smith.  On Line Condolences may be made at www.schraubenlehman.com.
