Ionia Caring and loving husband and father passed away peacefully at his home on April 26, 2008. He was born in Trufant, Michigan the son of Ila and Richard Christiansen on October 14, 1931. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard (Lefty) Christiansen and a infant son Michael Christiansen. He is retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service in 1971 and then retired with 20 years of working at General Tire, known by his co-workers as "Pappy". Don had several interests in life which included bowling, hunting, fishing, gardening and bingo. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Fumie Christiansen; daughters Carol (Jeff) Gravelle of Ionia, Gail (Larry) Smith of Texas; son Carl (Rayell) Christiansen of Florida; brother Tom (Shirley) Christiansen of Palo; sister Linda Koch of Texas; step siblings Dennis Christiansen of Chippewa Lake, Beverly (Duane) Wilson of Nevada, Shirl (Walter) Hazen of Chippewa Lake, Wanda (Dave) Young of Chippewa Lake; sister-in-law Virginia Christiansen of Caledonia; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will held at Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 from 5-8 p.m.. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.schraubenlehman.com.
