Donald May Obituary

Donald L. May Portland Age 93, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. He was born on January 12, 1924 in Portland, the son of Leo and Esther (Crist) May. Don was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, was an original member of the Fr. Flohe planning council, and a member of the Knights of Columbus #2168. He was a life long farmer who enjoyed making homemade cider, playing cards, hunting, and always having the "gift to gab". Don retired from T.R.W. after 30 years of service and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Marcelene "Marcie" May. Surviving are his children Sharon (Bernard) Platte of Pentwater, James (Patty) May of Dale, TX, Kenneth (Debra Tomasek) May, and Daniel (Lori) May both of Portland; grandchildren, Eric (Pamela), Marc (Carrie), Allan, Susan (Andy), Dawn, David (Julie), Karah, Sheena (Luke), Chelsea (Logan), and Kevin (Taylor); 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 19, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Rev. Larry King presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. The rosary's will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fr. Flohe Foundation or McLaren Hospice Services in memory of Don.
