Donald Shattuck

Donald P. Shattuck Portland, Michigan Age 91, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013. He was born on October 3, 1921 in East Grand Rapids, MI the son of Morris and Clara (Emelander) Shattuck. Mr. Shattuck was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the European Theater in France. Donald was a member of the Portland V.F.W. Post #4090, and also a member of the Portland Conservation Club. He was a lifelong farmer, living on the same farm 63 years, raising quarter horses, and was retired from General Motors. Donald was an avid sportsman, had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed spending summers with his family on the Muskegon River. Preceding him in death were his brothers, Allen, William, Robert and Wayne. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Doris; children, Janey (James) Dillard of Flushing, Jim (Kay) Shattuck of Portland, and Jacqueline Shattuck of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Erik (Sara) Siegrist and Kristin (Marco) Gonzales-Vega; 2 great grandchildren, Abigail Siegrist and Mara Gonzales-Vega; brother, Vern (Leota) Shattuck; sister-in-law, Germaine Shattuck; many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2013 at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland, with the Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson, Pastor of the First Congregational Church, Portland, presiding. Military Honors will be provided by the Portland V.F.W. Post #4090. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Portland V.F.W. Post #4090, Portland Conservation Club, or the First Congregational Church, in memory of Donald.
