Doris L. Droste Sunfield, MI Doris Louise Droste, age 92, loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014. She was born in Portland, MI on April 9, 1922 to DeForest and Gladys (Purdun) Ames. She worked at Diamond Reo in Lansing, MI during World War II. She also worked at Machine Products in Lake Odessa and various waitress jobs. Many would remember her as a waitress at the Home Restaurant in Portland, MI. She and her husband Richard Droste also provided a safe and loving home as foster parents to many children over 25 years. Family weekend camping trips to Coldwater Lake Co. Park, near Beal City, MI produced many happy memories over the years. She is survived by children, Sharon (Dave) Thompson of Sunfield, Toni Russo of Ionia, and Jeff (Jeanine) Droste of Crown Pointe, IN; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, as well as several foster children. A sister, Bonnie Gummere of Marne, MI also survives her. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Portland Cemetery with Pastor Darrel Bosworth officiating.
