Doris Kohler Obituary

Age 79, loving mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2009. She was born on October 17, 1929 in Ionia the daughter of Charles T. and Zellah M. (Hoople) Bailey. Doris was a graduate of Ionia High School in 1947 and Michigan State College in 1951 with a triple minor. She married Donald Baldwin in 1950 and resided in Cadillac from 1955 to 1972. She then married George Kohler in 1965 and they resided in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and then came back to her home town in Ionia, MI. She was an accomplished musician who was a member of the Ionia Community Band from 1985-2003. She was also a member of the Ionia Literary Club and a substitute Teacher in Ionia for many years. She was a very handyperson who helped in designing and building her own home. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Baldwin and George Kohler. Surviving are her children, Edward F. Baldwin of Highland, MI, David C. Baldwin of Warren, MI, and Ann Margaret M. Kohler of Ionia, MI; sister, Marian Archer of St. Joseph, MI; son-in-law, Ron Purdun of Ionia; several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia Area Hospice in memory of Mrs. Doris Anne Kohler. Online condolences may be made at www.schraubenlehman.com
