Dorothy Haney Obituary

Age 75, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2004. She was born on November 1, 1928 in Ionia, Michigan the daughter of Romeo and Pansey (Joslyn) Glossi. Dorothy graduated from Ionia High School in 1947. She married LaVern Dale Haney on June 20, 1948 at the First Methodist Church and has resided at 2204 Haynor Rd. her entire married life. The Haneys farmed in Ionia County for five generations. When winter festivals were held at the Hunting and Fishing Club at Bertha Brock Park, Dorothy was chosen queen in 1946. She was employed at Michigan Bell Telephone, the Michigan Training Unit, Consumers Power, and the Hall Fowler Memorial Library. She was a charter member of the Hale Guild of the I.C.M.H. and a charter member of the Ionia Community Theater. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jane Christine Haney; son, Philip Nathan Haney; sister, Marian Kelly; brother, Samuel Glossi. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Dale Haney of Ionia; son, Mark (Catherine) Haney; 3 grandchildren, Lauren, Nathan and Benjamin Haney; one step grandson, Michael Becker; 4 sisters, Marie Reamer of Lansing, Alene Colter, Norma (Robert) Westbrook and Jane (Spike) Mann of Ionia; 2 brothers, Ray Glossi and James R. (Patricia) Glossi of Ionia; brother-in-law, Marvin Haney. At Dorothy's request, there will be no funeral. There will be a celebration of her life at 2204 Haynor Road on Saturday, September 25, 2004 from 2-6 p.m.. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Hall-Fowler Memorial Library or Ionia Area Hospice, in memory of Dorothy Jean Haney. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Ionia.
