Douglas Erridge Obituary

Age 60, passed away after a short courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, April 5, 2009. He was born on October 21, 1948 in Ionia the son of John and Janice (Hackett) Erridge. Mr. Erridge was a very active member of the Ionia Moose Lodge and was a member of the Saranac American Legion Post and the Greenville Eagles. He retired from the State of Michigan Department of Corrections after many years of service. He loved to golf and bowl, but nothing in this world meant more to him than his step children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Melissa. Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Charlene (Spitzley); step children, Greg (Nikki) Spitzley, Dawn (Gary) Cunningham, and Karen (Brian) Waters; 5 step grandchildren, Ashley Waters, Tyler Waters, Scott Spitzley, Brandon Cunningham, and Brent Cunningham; 1 step great granddaughter, Taylor Lynn Spitzley; siblings, Gary (Pam) Erridge, Judy Ciganick, Paula (Bob) Nummer, Anne Rusnell, and Theresa (Dave) Holcomb; several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia with Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Woodard Lake Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mr. Douglas J. Erridge.
