She graduated from Kellogg Community College where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse. She dedicated herself to the nursing profession until she retired. At a young age, she married Robert Medalen, had her first child Natalie in Battle Creek and eventually moved to a farm outside Nekoma, North Dakota where she would have her two sons. They would eventually divorce and she would reconnect with & later marry Jerry A. Rocho (a former High School sweetheart) and move to Lansing, Michigan. They were happily married for thirty-one years.
