Eileen J. Rocho Mason Eileen Joanne Rocho, age 65, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2017 in Lansing, MI. Eileen is survived by her husband, Jerry Rocho and her three kids & their families: her daughter, Natalie McCarty (Medalen) of Fresno, CA; her sons, A.J. Medalen, of Byron Center, MI and Harlan Medalen, of Portland, MI. Also survived by her mother, Julia Ramsey of Battle Creek, MI. She has four surviving siblings, Carol Gay (Penny) of Washington; Richard Penny of Florida; Barbara McConnell (Ramsey) of Illinois and James Ramsey Jr. of Michigan. She is preceded in death by her father, James Ramsey, Sr. She graduated from Kellogg Community College where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse. She dedicated herself to the nursing profession until she retired. At a young age, she married Robert Medalen, had her first child Natalie in Battle Creek and eventually moved to a farm outside Nekoma, North Dakota where she would have her two sons. They would eventually divorce and she would reconnect with & later marry Jerry A. Rocho (a former High School sweetheart) and move to Lansing, Michigan. They were happily married for thirty-one years. Eileen was incredibly caring which helped her be a great wife, nurse, and mother. Eileen was very social and never met a stranger. The Funeral Service will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland, MI. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Monday, July 24, 2017 at the funeral chapel. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, a disease Eileen struggled with for more than ½ her life. Your tax-deductible donation will help advance critical diabetes research and support education, advocacy and awareness programs that improve the lives of people with diabetes. In addition, a tree will be planted, to create a beautiful, living memorial to Eileen’s life.
