Eleanor Vallier

Portland Eleanor was born on February 24, 1938 in Manistique, in the Upper Peninsula to Frank and Rowena (Wackter) Soligny. Mrs Vallier graduated from Manistique High School Class of 1956. She also graduated from the Marvel Beauty School of Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1957. She owned and operated her beauty salon until 1961. She married Francis "John" Vallier in Manistique at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church on July 18, 1959. They lived in Engadine until 1963 when they moved to Portland, Michigan. She enjoyed crafts and crocheting, but especially enjoyed her family and grand kids. She was a past member of St. Pat's Altar Society and enjoyed many years of bowling. Eleanor is survived by her husband of 50 years, John, six sons and a daughter. Rev. John F. Vallier of Grand Rapids, Robert (Karen) and their children Dyllan and Mathew of South Windsor, CT, Richard (Amy) of Lansing, Glenn (Tammy) and their children Brittni, Nolan and Haylee of Eagle, William (Connie) and their children Kelly, Beth and Richelle of Portland, Christopher (Jenny) and their children Cade, Charlie, Molly, Mason and Carter of Portland; daughter Renee (Michael) Haneghan and their daughter Rachael of Highlands Ranch, CO; She is also survived by a sister Elaine O'Neil of Potterville; 2 brothers-in-law, 4 sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be Con-Celebrated by Rev. John Vallier and Rev. Larry King, Pastor at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will be in Fairview Cemetery, Manistique on Thursday. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. The rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m., Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fr. Flohe Foundation or to the St. Patrick Athletic Association in memory of Eleanor.
