ELIZABETH "BETSY" ANN SYKES MIDLAND, MI; FORMERLY OF PORTLAND Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Sykes, age 61, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in Midland after a long illness. She was born on December 17, 1950 in Lansing, MI to Benjamin T. Sykes Jr. and Dorothy (Karnath) Sykes. Betsy was raised by Guardians, Nick A. and Rosa Smith and Foster parents, Ron and Gen Lehman of Portland . She graduated from St. Patrick High School, Portland, class of 1969. She served with the U.S. Air Force in Germany, then worked for several companies during her lifetime. She is survived by her sister Linda (Ed) Smith of Fowler, MI, several nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Howard "Howdie" Graft and life long family friend Annette Fetzer. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Ben and Della Sykes, brother Leon (Butch) Sykes, sister Carol Graft and former husband Phillip Stump. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland, with Deacon Bernard Pohl presiding.
