Eugene Conroe Obituary

Portland Age 66, passed away June 30, 2012. He was born on July 3, 1945 the son of Glen and Avis Conroe. Butch grew up in Saranac and graduated from Saranac High School. After graduation he worked for a year in his home town factory - Universal. He then hired into General Motors in 1965 and retired in 2006 after 41 and half years after Plant 3 closed it's doors. Butch loved his music and was an avid bass guitar player and singer. He loved his bass guitars owning 6 of them and since 1970 was in various rock and roll/country bands. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren always trying not to miss their sporting activities. He loved shoes and even had more pairs than his wife, Lonese. Butch loved wrestling, car racing, mowing the lawn and driving his 1992 Firebird. He was a great help around the house and even did the grocery shopping. He and his wife liked to jump in one of the vehicles and just drive around the country side with maybe a stop or two at a local casino. Butch enjoyed walking or riding his bike on the Portland river trail and going on long bike rides with one of his friends. When he couldn't ride the trails because of weather, we used to kid him about his walk to nowhere on his treadmill. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lewis Helsel and Ronald Conroe. Butch is survived by his wife of 22 years, Lonese (Eavey) Conroe; children Buffi (Eric) Hearld, Kristi (Dennis) Albert, Leylla Conroe, Derrick (Angelina) Tyler, Pastor Robert (Tonya) Tyler and Jason (Jewel) Tyler; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; sisters Velma Jean (Bud) Moyer, Bonnie (Jim) Wayman, Christine (Barry) Jackson and Carolyn (Tom) Westbrook; many nieces and nephews and cousins. The Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Robert Tyler at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St. Portland. Interment will be in Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
