Eugene Francis Droste, age 75, of Westphalia, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 26, 2018. He was born August 25, 1942, the son of Alfred and Lillian (Spitzley) Droste. Gene was a devoted employee at GMAC for 30 years and was a life-long resident of Westphalia. Preceding Gene in death are his parents; brother, Dan; and in-laws, Vernon (Myrtle) Van Buren. Gene is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Michelle; children, Bethann (John) Nurenberg, Daniel (Melissa) Droste, and Neal (Kerri) Droste; grandchildren, Joshua, Ashley, Lily, and Brooklyn Nurenberg, Noah, Nicholas, Evan, and Megan Droste, and Jenna and Ellie Droste; siblings, Joe (Patricia) Droste, Al (Mary) Droste, Elizabeth (Luke) Freund, Maggie (Nort) Upson, and Maryann (Keith) Norick. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Eric Weber at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St., Westphalia. The rosary will be prayed at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
