Francis Spitzley

Age 63, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2004.  He was born on September 14, 1940 in Portland, MI the son of William and Katherine (Shepherd) Spitzley.  Mr. Spitzley graduated from Ss. Peter and Paul Acedamy in 1959 and then joined the Army serving in Okinawa for 4 years in the 82nd Airborn Division.  He worked at Oldsmobile for 11 years and was a woodcutter and farmer all of his life.  There were many homes kept warm because of him.  He was a stone mason and currently was employed at William Morris and sons.  He was preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" Spitzley. Surviving are his fiance, Nancy O'Brien of Mt. Pleasant; children, Greg (Nikki) Spitzley of Sheridan, Dawn (Gary) Cunningham of Muir, and Karen (Brian) Waters of Orleans; his children's mother, Charlene Erridge of Ionia; 5 grandchildren, Scott Spitzley, Ashley and Tyler Waters, Brandon and Brent Cunningham; mother, Katherine Spitzley; brothers, Dennis (Delores) Spitzley and Larry (Pam) Spitzley; sisters, Pat (Tom) Reinhardt, Mary Hogle, Susan Hogan, and Phyllis (Dan) Richardson; several nieces and nephews.  The Funeral Service will be conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Harger, Pastor at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at Shiloh Community Church, Ionia.  The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Ionia Chapel from 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.  For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Ss. Peter and Paul Educational Trust Fund in memory of Francis J. "Frank" Spitzley.
