Freeman Monks

Age 97, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2004. He was born on August 5, 1907 in Orange Township, MI the son of Earl and Alice (Badder) Monks. Mr. Monks was a life long farmer, and member of LeValley United Methodist Church in Ionia. Freeman enjoyed dancing and traveling to Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Louise Monks; daughter, Betty Lou Smith; sons, Freeman and Robert Monks; third wife, Lucille; sister, Ivah Miller. Surviving are a son, Earl F. Monks; 6 grandchildren, Chris Monks, Kari (Brant) Erbentraut, Stephanie (Alex) Brown, Ken Monks, Robin Hoppes, and Brenda Monks; several great grandchildren; brother, Roy Monks of Florida. The Funeral Service will be conducted by the Rev. Mark Johnson, Pastor at 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2004 at LeValley United Methodist Church, Ionia. Interment will take place at Balcom Cemetery, Ionia. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland from 4-8 p.m. Thursday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to LeValley United Methodist Church, in memory of Mr. Freeman E. Monks.
