Age 71, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2004. He was born on September 15, 1932 in Westphalia Township the son of Elmer and Dorothy (Nurenberg) Miller. Mr. Miller was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westphalia, and the Knight of Columbus St. Jude Thaddeus Council #2890. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army and was a member of the Portland American Legion Post #129. He owned and operated Miller Sand and Gravel until his retirement in 1996 and loved to fish. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Miller. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Jane T. Miller of Westphalia; 7 children, Michael (Kathy) Miller of Portland, Dennis (Cindy) Miller of Westphalia, Karin (Ron) Katch of Dewitt, Conni (Tim) Thelen of Westphalia, Robert (Bobbi Jo) Miller of Fowlerville, Nanci (Pete) Greenfield of Corona, CA, and Beth (Paul) Smith of Westphalia; 19 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 2 sisters, Kathleen (Bill) Gates of Capitin, NM and Janice Schied of Roswell, NM; brother Gene (Carol) Miller of Goshen, IN; several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cecilio Reyna, Pastor at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia with Rite of Committal following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Portland VFW Post #4090. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. both days.
