Gerald Weller

Portland and Sunfield Age 60, wonderful husband, father and grandfather passed away on November 12, 2008. He was born on November 2, 1948 in Lansing the son of Jacob and Lorene (Esterline) Weller. Gerry was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland. He was an avid M.S.U. fan and enjoyed watching sports with his daughters and playing golf. He coached all three of his daughters in youth league sports. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War receiving the Purple Heart and a member of the V. F. W. Post #4090 in Portland. Gerry was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Freddie and a infant sister Kay. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Ellen; daughters Kendra (Kyle) Binkley of Lansing, Becky (Brad) Durrant of Eagle, and Angie (Corey) Parkhurst of Lansing; grandchildren Cadence Jane, Stella Jo, Trenton LeRoy, “special grandson” Shaine Austin and baby Binkley on the way; siblings Bill (Patti) Weller, Mike (Joan) Weller, Pat (Anita) Weller, Dan (Kathy) Weller, Terry (Jo Ellen) Weller, Loren (Cindy) Weller, and Teresa (Mark) Brenner; brother-in-law, Larry (Deb) Scarborough; many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 17, 2008 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Danby Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be provided by V.F.W. Post #4090. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m., Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St. Portland. The rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m., Saturday and 3 p.m., Sunday. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m., Sunday. A special thank you to the staff at the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan for their wonderful and compassionate care given to Gerry. You will be dearly missed but always will remain in our hearts. GO STATE!
