Geraldine Engelke Obituary

Age 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2008. She was born on October 5, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Ernst) Lindstrom. Mrs. Engelke was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ionia and the Beta Phi Sorority of Ionia. She was a classically trained singer and while she lived in Kinde, MI she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church Choir. She was a talented seamstress and an avid art enthusiast who chaperoned many art trips. She worked with the Foster Grandparent program through the State of Michigan and Ionia Public Schools for many years. She was a wonderful mother who was very active and supportive in her children's life. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Vicky Lynn. Surviving are her children: Leslie M. (Michelle) Clayton and Judith L. (Duane) Emlinger; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Richard A. Lindstrom, Penney (Frank) Alex, and Loretta Ann Meyers; several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2008 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, 220 Rich Street, Ionia with interment following at Easton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the service time.
