Gladys Spitzley

<P>Age 76, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2003.&nbsp; She was born on March 28, 1927 in Sebewa Twp., MI the daughter of Sydney and Mildred (Evans) Brown.&nbsp; Mrs. Spitzley was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.&nbsp; She started as a Stenographer at Auto Owners and eventually moved up into management there and retired after 46 years of service.&nbsp; She was an avid University of Michigan fan, won&nbsp;knitting awards, enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports, and also played the piano and organ.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents.&nbsp; She married William J. "Bill" Spitzley on June 25, 1949, and together shared 54 years of marriage, and he survives her.&nbsp; Also surviving are her children, Elizabeth ( Douglas) Hart of Middleville, MI, William Spitzley of Portland, and Patricia Spitzley of Laingsburg; grandchildren, Catherine, Anne-Marie, and Michael Hart, Christopher, Mark, and Amy Spitzley; cousins, Harold (Jean) Evans, Janet (Vaughn) Carter, and Ron (Mary) Evans; family friend, Dale Carlson.&nbsp; The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Shamaun Beas, Associate Pastor at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2003 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Rite of Committal following at Portland Cemetery.&nbsp; The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.&nbsp; A rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Friday.&nbsp; For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Charity of One's Choice in memory of Gladys A. Spitzley.&nbsp; </P>
