Grace Simon

Age 71, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Sunday February 6, 2005. She was born on April 2, 1933 in St. Johns, MI the daughter of Aloysius and Louise (Spitzley) Platte. Mrs. Simon was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, as well as the Christian Mothers. Grace enjoyed cards, bingo and many other activities. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents. Surviving are her husband, Celestine; 8 children, David (Lou Ann) Simon, Terrence Simon, Dale (Sherry) Simon, Geralyn (Steve) Stiffler, Luanne Peeper, Randy (Lisa) Simon, Jayke (Alan Kramer) Simon and Brenda (Fred Sims) Simon; 3 brothers, Gerald (Nancy) Platte, Duane (Barb) Platte and Joseph (Mary) Platte; 4 sisters, Marie (Alphonse) Thelen, Therese (Edward) Perrien, Sharon (Clark) Becker and Mary Catherine Platte; 19 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cecilio Reyna, Pastor, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, Westphalia, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm both Tuesday and Wednesday. Rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 pm Tuesday, and at 3 pm Wednesday. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8 pm on Wednesday. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.
