Harold Gates

Age 82, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2003 at the Masonic Pathways in Alma, MI.  He was born on November 21, 1920 in Ottumwa, Iowa the son of Roy and Velma (Murphy) Gates.  Mr. Gates was a life member of the Portland Masonic Lodge F & A.M. #31 and retired from T.R.W. in Portland after many years of service.  He also repaired mowers at his home for many years.  He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Frances in 1999.  Surviving are his sister, Lorene J. Davis of Zephyrhills, Florida; brother, Walter George of Florida; nieces and nephews.  A Masonic Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing, MI.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.  On line condolences may be made at www.schraubenlehman.com.
