Harry Hattis

Harry E. Hattis, age 91, of Portland, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017. He was born January 14, 1926 to Harry and Margaret (Williams) Hattis. Harry was a proud WWII Veteran, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He retired from T.R.W. in Portland after many years of service. Harry was a life-long member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the V.F.W in Portland. Harry was active in the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed woodworking, family vacations, and free cell solitaire. Harry is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years, Marie and his brother, Reece. Surviving him are his children, Gary (Deb) Hattis of Portland, Sharon (Bill) Hoffman of Portland, Linda (Eric) Johnson of Westford, VT, and David (Mary) Hattis of Plains, MT; grandchildren, Erica and Devann Hattis, Nate (Diana) and Andy Hoffman, Ian and Noah Johnson, Josh and Jake Hattis, Valerie Brodbeck, Jessica Foster, Stephanie Smith, Leah Mainprize, Ryan Schafer, Megan Fenstra, Adam Schafer, Hannah Schafer, Jordan Murphy, Katelyn Murphy, and Brandan Murphy; wife of 25 years, Delores Hattis; and special friend, Sylvia Smith. The Hattis family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the compassionate care given by the caregivers of Brookdale Delta and Compassus Hospice Service. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Larry King at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 20, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Rite of Committal will be at Portland Cemetery and a luncheon will immediately follow at the St. Patrick Parish Hall. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to the Hattis Family, who will be donating the contributions to 40 unsung heros, the caregivers at Brookdale Delta.
