Helen Jean Fandel Portland, Michigan Age 86, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015. She was born on April 16, 1929 in Portland, Michigan the daughter of Ferdinand and Sadie (Wilcox) Wohlscheid. Helen was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church; she enjoyed tending to her flowers, watching birds, baking desserts, and playing cards but most of all, she enjoyed being with her family especially the young children. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Christopher; 4 sisters; 2 brothers. Surviving are her children, Frank (Brenda) Fandel, Derry (Brian) Hoppes, Rhonda (Patrick) Schrauben, Rodney (Kimberly) Fandel, Marlys (Mark) Spohn, and Teresa (John, Jr.) Longabach; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Sandborn, Gerald (Nancy) Wohlscheid, and Gwendolyn (Donald) Bentley. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Larry King at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association or to the Fr. Flohe Fund in memory of Helen.
