Butler</p><p>Port Charlotte, FL</p><p>Formally Portland, MI</p><p><br></p><p>Beloved Father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015 at the Palms of Punta Gorda, FL. Age 86 years. The son of the late Hamner C and Flaudie (Fleck) Butler. Jack was born April 17, 1929 in Portland, MI. He married Betty J. McClung on March 10, 1951. She survives him. Jack served in the U.S. Army from 1950–1953. In his younger years, Jack spent several years revitalizing the local VFW Club. Enjoyed many years in construction. He retired from the MI DNR in 1987. He loved managing his son’s racing team and hosting many parties up at the Lake. He and Betty moved to Florida in 1988. They enjoyed traveling, fishing and loved being involved in the VFW. He is survived by one son Rhett (Sue) Butler, North Port, Florida; one daughter Diana Butler and Steve Kulesia, Lansing; 3 grandchildren, Gabe (Danielle) Richards, Caitlin (Mike) Buren, and Kent Butler; and five great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his oldest son Russ and grandson R.J., also two brothers and five sisters. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland, MI. Interment will follow in Portland Cemetery, 950 E. Bridge St., Portland, MI. Friends may call at Lehman Funeral Homes where the family will be present on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
