Jack Stegenga Obituary

Age 69, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Friday, October 15, 2004. He was born on July 26, 1935 in Lansing, MI the son of Conrad and Harriet (Frost) Stegenga. Mr. Stegenga was a member of St. Patricks Church, as well as a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jack worked for T.R.W., retiring after 36 years, and also farmed. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially loving hunting and fishing. Jack's family came first, and he took pride that he was raised on the same farm that he and Laura raised their children on. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Laura Stegenga of Portland; children, Mike Stegenga, Bill (Sharon) Stegenga and Beth (Doug) Stiffler, all of Portland; grandchildren, Laura Marie, Jakeb "J.J.", Danielle, Clayton, Cristin and Ben; sisters, Ellen (Jack) Winchester of Tallahasee, FL, Jean Barrus of Pentwater and Evelyn Haueter of Lansing; adopted sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn (Don) Baulker of Lansing, MI; many nieces and nephews. The Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. nday, October 18, 2004 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland, with Fr. Larry King, Pastor presiding. The family received friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland on Sunday.
