Jack Zimmerman

Portland Age 69, passed away on September 11, 2010. He was born on July 21, 1941 the son of Nick and Helen (Simunek) Zimmerman. Jack was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and the N.R.A.. He is retired from General Motors with over 35 years of service. Jack loved the outdoors, especially walking, hunting, canoeing and traveling. He will be remembered as being a very kind, caring and simple man with a big heart for his family and especially his granddaughters Avery, Carly and Eden. On November 28, 1964 he married Diane Schrauben and together they shared 45 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Wayne and Anne Schrauben. Surviving are his wife, Diane; children Jack (Rhonda) Zimmerman of Charlotte, Kristi Zimmerman of Ludington and David (Amy) Zimmerman of Portland; granddaughters Avery, Carly and Eden Zimmerman; siblings Thomas (Alice) Zimmerman of Portland, Gerald Zimmerman of Grand Ledge, Diane (Jerrold) Peiffer of Grand Ledge, Linda (Steve) Spedoske of Portland, Kathleen (Charles) Schrauben of Muir, Virginia Zimmerman of Charlotte, Donna (Jamie) King of Grand Ledge and Lois (Douglas) Musbach of Charlotte; many in-laws, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic church with Rev. Larry King, presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3-8 p.m., Tuesday, at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick School or to the American Cancer Society in memory of Jack.
