James Daly

Age 66, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2004.  He was born on March 20, 1938 in Portland, MI the son of James J. and Helen (Trierweiler) Daly.  Jim graduated from Ionia High School in 1984, was a lifetime member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and was a member of the Ionia Knights of Columbus Council #944.  He worked for his parents as a cook at the Ionia Inn, loved to play the organ, and made homemade rosaries.  He loved to fish especially steelhead fishing up to his brother's cabin.  He studied as a franciscan friar brother at the monestary in Olinburg, Indiana.  He was preceded in death by his father, James J. Daly on April 7, 1996 and his mother Helen Daly on September 21, 2002.  He is survived by his sister, Mary Teresa Brooks of Grand Ledge; 2 brothers, Dennis and Gary Daly, both of Ionia; several nieces and nephews.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Melvin Fox, Pastor at 11 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2004 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ionia with Rite of Committal following at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Ionia.  The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia from 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday.  A rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Sunday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Memorial Fund in memory of James F. Daly.
