Ionia Age 79, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011. Dr. Metzen was born on March 11, 1931 the son of John and Bessie (Talbott) Metzen. He rooted for the Tigers, loved animals, watching birds, was an avid reader, and enjoyed to travel. Dr. Metzen was a historical society member and enjoyed reading their Travelogues. He worked at the Ionia Mental Health Facility, Riverside Correctional Facility, had a private practice in Carson City and at home, and was a consultant for the Montcalm Mental Health Facility. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, John Jr., Kathryn, and Eddie. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary Louise Metzen; nieces, Nan (Dick) Haring, Sue (Steve) Haight, Connie (Joe) Feizet, and Kathy Metzen; sister-in-law, Rosemary. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ionia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
