Jerry L. O'Neill Portland, Michigan Age 87, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014. She was born on July 16, 1927 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the daughter of John and Ruth (Fellows) Hanley. Mrs. O'Neill and her husband Leo were instrumental in establishing Alcoholics Anonymous in Portland, and started a detoxification center, which later transformed into O'Neill's Adult Foster Care Facility, which she operated for over 35 years. She and Leo also owned and operated the Tri-Level Inn in Portland, and Jerry was one of the main people to help establish Mount Hope Church in Portland. Christmas was a special time for Jerry, family was most important, and she loved her grandchildren very much, treating them as her own children. She was an excellent cook, and enjoyed picking berries with the grandchildrens' help, and turning it into jelly. Preceding her in death were her husband, Leo; son, Blaine; brother, Oliver; sister, Jean; mother, Ruth; father; John. Surviving are her children, Lillian Castronova, Gina (John) Voorheis, Alan O'Neill, and Joni (Curt) Epps; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Mount Hope Church, 845 Ionia Rd., Portland, with Pastor Joe Robbe presiding. Interment will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes, Portland.
