Joan Bolek

Joan "Joanie" Bolek Lyons Age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, May 13, 2016. She was born at home near Perry, MI on November 6, 1938 the daughter of John and Helen Bolek. Joan was a special child of God. She enjoyed many activities including coloring, doing puzzles, playing games and doing crafts. In recent years she really enjoyed painting. Joan love going places like music festivals, McDonalds, plays and the zoo. She really liked feeding the camels, giraffes and the birds. In her younger years, Joan enjoyed helping with house hold chores, gardening and yard work. She was a Spartan basketball and Detroit Tiger fan. Joan also enjoyed listening to polka and country music. She loved watching the "Andy Griffith Show", "Everybody Loves Raymond", The Three Stooges and her favorite "I Love Lucy". Joan loved to laugh and tease people. She loved babies and kids because she had a heart of a child. Joan filled our lives with joy and laughter. We were blessed to have her in our family, she was our precious treasure. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Carr; brothers-in-law Norman Carr and Joe Simon. Surviving are her sisters Wanda Simon of Fowler, Irene (Terry) Jensen of Lyons and Teresa (Bob) Lock of Eaton Rapids; many nieces, nephews and friends. We Love You, Joanie! The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John M. Bosco at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Morrice, MI. Rite of Committal will follow at Bethany Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friend 2-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland and 1 hour prior to the Mass at St. Mary's on Wednesday. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m., Tuesday. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
