Age 69, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 7, 2008. He was born on July 15, 1938 in Minster, Ohio the son of Henry J. and Mary (Otting) Boerger. John was raised in Minster, Ohio and received his BA in Mechanical Engineering and his MBA from the University of Dayton. He was the Executive Vice President for N.H.K., a joint venture with the Lear Corporation. He was very active as a community volunteer serving on the Portland CIty Council, the Planning Commission, the Zoning Board of Appeals, and was a member of the Portland Civic Club. He enjoyed hiking and spending his winters in Sedona, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Marsha; son, John M. Boerger of Clarkston; daughter, Patricia J. (Emmett Long) Boerger of Vienna, VA; step daughter, Jeanie (Donald) Carter of Grand Haven; step son, Kevin (Kelli) Fryover of Waterford; 6 grandchildren; aunts, Marie Fischer and Irma Feldman both of Minster, Ohio; many special friends. The Funeral Service will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson, Pastor at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the First Congregational Church of Portland with interment following at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday and Monday.
