John Freund

John Roy Freund Westphalia Age 71, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 in Lansing, Michigan. He was born on July 11, 1939 in Westphalia, Michigan the son of Clarence and Beatrice (Milberg) Freund. Mr. Freund was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Sargeant in the Michigan National Guard, past President of the Michigan Equipment Dealers Association, as well as a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City West. Roy was also a member of TPA, the Elks, Kiwanis, Eagles, and Prince of Peace Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Little John; surviving him are his loving wife of 47 years, Sherry Freund of Sun City West, AZ.; daughter, Angela (Jeffrey) Steiss of Perry, son, Jeffrey Freund of Mission Viejo, CA; siblings, Ann (Thomas) Lewis of Lansing, Kenneth (Linda) Freund of South Lyon, Mark Freund of Lansing, Robert (Mary Pat) Freund of South Lyon, Luke (Betsy) Freund of DeWitt and Stanley (Debbie) Freund of Lansing; 3 grandchildren, Samantha, Macy and Hunter; many special nieces, nephews and cousins. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Peter Van Rooyen and Msgr. Sylvester Fedewa at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia, MI. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia, MI. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, in Westphalia, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jimmy V. Foundation or the charity of one's choice.
